TG supports call to educate primary-age pupils about FGM
On Saturday, the BBC
reported that, from September 2020, FGM will be part of the curriculum for secondary school education. They also reported the fears from experts that, unless it is addressed within primary school education as well, this will still come too late for some girls.
While we appreciate that FGM is not a pleasant subject, we as TG agree that it should be addressed, in an age-appropriate manner, from primary school so that these upcoming generations of girls have the knowledge they need to protect themselves and to speak out against this horrible practice.
