More Information On This Social Group

Our Guild was established in 1970. We are a friendly, active group of 100 ladies ranging in age from the late 50’s to over 90 years young. We have 4 founder members amongst our number which is a good mix of long standing members and recent joiners.

The main Guild meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of the month. We generally have a break in August, a Christmas party in December and harvest supper alternate September’s. The rest of the meetings generally consist of a speaker, a break for refreshments and Guild business as required.

We also have 14 social activity groups which are very popular with members. Most groups meet in members homes on a monthly basis. The Simply Social committee also organise 6 meetings a year which are open for all Guild members to attend. These are a mix of light hearted subjects and entertainment.

We have an outings secretary who arranges a variety of outings each year. There is also generally a Guild holiday organised during the summer months.

Each year we support a different charity chosen by members. The monies raised are presented to a representative of the charity in January or February each year. Recent charities have been “Dogs for Good”, (formerly Dogs for Disabled) where monies raised went towards part sponsorship of training a puppy called “Paddy”. We were very lucky as Paddy lives locally and he popped in to see us at one our meetings. Another charity raised money for Sandwell and West Birmingham hospitals Dementia project. The monies raised went towards’ providing memory boxes for patients. The newest charity will be announced to members at our forthcoming AGM.
